HOCKNEY IN PARIS COLLECTION
Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris
This collection was born from the exhibition presented at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. When I first saw his work displayed, I was struck by every single piece. I wanted to take a memory from that experience, something that would make me feel like I was still there. With that in mind, I created this series of photographs featuring people, so that every time I look at them, I can relive the feeling of being present at the exhibition.
The photo that started it all. When I took this picture, I didn’t know it would become one of my favorites. Looking at it, I can almost feel myself standing there, in front of Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures), one of Hockney’s most iconic paintings, and one of the ones I love the most.
One of the things I enjoy photographing the most is landscapes. These works depict different places in England, and I wanted each painting to appear with the same clarity Hockney intended to convey through them.
In this photo, I captured the portraits Hockney painted of his friends, family, and others. These were among my favorites, the way they stand out against the blue background makes each painting feel almost like a photograph.
This painting, A Bigger Splash, makes you feel as if you were watching a scene from a Hollywood movie.
