HOCKNEY IN PARIS COLLECTION
Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris
This collection was born from the exhibition presented at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. When I first saw his work displayed, I was struck by every single piece. I wanted to take a memory from that experience — something that would make me feel like I was still there. With that in mind, I created this series of photographs featuring people, so that every time I look at them, I can relive the feeling of being present at the exhibition.
The photo that started it all. When I took this picture, I didn’t know it would become one of my favorites. Looking at it, I can almost feel myself standing there, in front of Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures) — one of Hockney’s most iconic paintings, and one of the ones I love the most.
One of the things I enjoy photographing the most is landscapes. These works depict different places in England, and I wanted each painting to appear with the same clarity Hockney intended to convey through them.
In this photo, I captured the portraits Hockney painted of his friends, family, and others. These were among my favorites — the way they stand out against the blue background makes each painting feel almost like a photograph.
This painting, A Bigger Splash, makes you feel as if you were watching a scene from a Hollywood movie.
